Khao Kheow Open Zoo’s resident sloth delights visitors

Si Racha –

The Khao Kheow Open Zoo’s very own sloth has been taking away some of the anxiety and stress from people during Covid-19, especially kids, according to park management.

With many activities and places popular for children still shut due to Covid-19 mandates and limited activities for kids in general with amusement parks, playgrounds, arcades, schools, and similar activities still closed, the zoo, which is open for business, has proven to be popular with families looking for a way to get their children out of the house and keep them entertained.

The Khao Kheow Open Zoo director Mr. Tawin Ratanawongsawat told The Pattaya News, “We are proud to present our famous sloth. He is well known locally as the ‘God of Slow Life’ and is the slowest moving mammal. Our resident sloth is beloved and attracts many visitors, especially children.”

“Our sloth at the zoo is named ‘Mr. Flash”, a play on the fact he moves so slowly. He is a two-toed sloth. He has a very unique personality and character that attracts visitors and families, including return visitors. His favorite foods are long beans and corn.” Tawin explained.

“The two-toed sloth is originally from South America. They can move up to 240 meters per hour, but often prefer not to move much at all. Females of the species can give birth to one baby per year.”

“We would like to invite people, especially children, to meet with this cute sloth,” Tawin concluded.

Khao Kheow open zoo is open daily from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Adults who have been vaccinated against Covid-19, even with just the first dose, can get 50% discounts on entry with proof of vaccination. The park has multiple Covid-19 precautions in place for those concerned about the virus and customer-facing staff has all been vaccinated, according to park officials.
