Thai Meteorological Department forecasts scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain over the next 7 days

The Thai Meteorological Department today, September 17th, reported 7-day weather forecasts with scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain in Thailand from September 17th to the 22nd.

In general, during September 17th – 19th, a southwest monsoon that prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand will weaken, resulting in less rain over the country and isolated heavy rain in the North, the East, and the South (west coast).

During the 20th – the 22nd, an active-low cell over the east of the Philippines is forecast to intensify and move through the South China Sea to the coast of middle Vietnam, causing more rain with isolated heavy rain in the lower North, the lower Northeast, the East, and the Central area.

In northern Thailand, scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain are expected during the 17th – the 20th while scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain are forecast for the 21st – the 22nd, with a minimum temperature of 22°C and a maximum temperature of 35°C.

In northeastern Thailand, scattered thundershowers are expected during the 17th – the 19th while scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain are forecast for the 20th – the 22nd, with a minimum temperature of 22°C and a maximum temperature of 34°C.

In central provinces, scattered thundershowers are expected during the 17th – the 20th while scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain are forecast for the 21st – the 22nd. For the Bangkok Metropolitan area, scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rains are also likely to occur during the period.

In eastern Thailand, which includes Chonburi and Pattaya, scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain are expected during the 17th – the 19th while scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain are forecast for the 20th – the 22nd. Waves are forecast to be about 1 meter and 1 – 2 meters in thundershowers.

In southern provinces, scattered thundershowers throughout the period with isolated heavy rain are expected during the 21st – the 22nd. Waves are forecast to be about 1 meter and 1-2 meters in thundershowers on the east coast while about 1-2 meters and about 2 meters in thundershowers are predicted on the west coast.

The department also warned people over the at-risk areas in the North, the Northeast, the Central, the East, and the South to beware of possible severe conditions. All ships should proceed with caution and keep away from the thundershower areas during the 20th – the 22nd.
