National –

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) today, September 9th, has warned of tropical storm “Conson” that is forecast to move to the Gulf of Tonkin of northern Vietnam and South China during September 12th-13th.

The storm over the upper South China Sea was centered at latitude 15.8 degrees north, longitude 118.8 degrees east, with the maximum sustained winds of about 85 kilometers per hour.

Although this storm does not directly affect Thailand’s weather, people should beware of severe conditions and stay tuned for the weather update from the TMD.

For the general situation, an active monsoon trough lies across the lower North, the Central, and the lower Northeast. Meanwhile, a strong southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea, the South, and the Gulf of Thailand.

Strong wind and waves are likely in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, 2-3 meters in the Andaman Sea, about 2 meters in the Gulf of Thailand and above 3 meters in thundershowers.

Isolated heavy to very heavy rains are possible for the whole country. People in risky areas should watch for overflows and flash floods. All ships should proceed with caution and keep away from thundershowers while small boats in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf should keep ashore until September 14th.
