Public Health Ministry to launch “Digital Health Pass” program for domestic flight passengers

National –

The Thai Ministry of Public Health yesterday, September 8th, has launched a “Digital Health Pass” online record as part of the Mor Prom application to be used by domestic flight passengers before boarding.

The program will contain the user’s vaccination details and their Covid-19 status. It could facilitate both the authorities and passengers when arriving or boarding to certain places where their vaccine status is required, according to the “COVID Free Setting” measures prior to the country reopening in the future.

It will mainly provide four records of information, including Covid-19 vaccination data from vaccination centers across the country, the results of the RT-PCR test from partner hospitals, and the results of the Covid-19 ATK test from partner clinics and pharmacies, and the results of serum IgG antibody detection.

According to deputy public health minister Sathit Pitutecha, the online record will be initially used for domestic flights and available in the application soon.

TPN media notes, however, that there continues to be internal discussion within the Thai Government on adopting this pass for possibly being utilized for what the government considers as “high-risk” venues such as restaurants in the future. This is not, however, finalized at this time.

Additionally, the application is primarily currently only available in Thai which has launched questions from ex-pat residents on the usage of this application for them. As an idea of how long the pass is likely to be used domestically the pass was signed for a three-year contract between the Ministry of Public Health and the airline industry.

The health pass was launched yesterday, notes TPN, but is not yet fully implemented across all airlines and many questions remain, including how one vaccinated overseas will be able to use the health pass or what alternatives can be utilized. These will, according to Sathit, be answered in the near future.

TPN media will provide further information on the health pass, as well as answers to some of the questions posed above when they become more clear.
