Pongsakorn Paeyo wins third gold medal at Tokyo Paralympics T53 wheelchair race yesterday

Thai wheelchair racer Pongsakorn “Korn” Paeyo won himself the third gold medal in the men’s 800m T53 wheelchair race at the Tokyo Paralympics yesterday, September 2nd.

Pongsakorn, who already won two gold medals in the 400 meters and 100 meters categories, reached the goal in the rainy race with a new record of 1.36.07, breaking the previous record set by Chinese wheelchair racer Li Hu Cao of 1.36.30 in 2008.

This is the fourth gold medal for Thailand and the fifth gold medal Pongsakorn has won since the Paralympic Games in Rio 2016.

Thailand now has collected 15 medals with four silvers, and seven bronzes since the first day of the Paralympics on August 24th.
