RECAP: Thailand finds 18,702 daily Covid-19 infections with 273 additional deaths, 669,189 new vaccinated people reported nationwide in the past 24 hours

Thailand discovered a total of 18,702 daily Covid-19 infections with 273 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, CCSA Assistant Spokesperson Apisamai Srirangsan announced today, August 27th.

The fatalities were 148 men and 125 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 85. Of that, 268 were Thai nationals and five Myanmar nationals. The age range was between 19 and 101 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, and obesity. 11 of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 16,677 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 1,674 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 342 were from prisons, and the remaining 9 were imported cases.

A number of 185,200 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 5,154 patients are in critical condition including 1,082 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.78 percent of cases that are critical while 20 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 4,699, followed by Samut Prakan with 1,220, Chonburi with 1,064, Samut Sakhon with 894, Nonthaburi with 586, and Pathumthani with 525.

A total number of 669,189 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 400,618 people had received their first shots, 263,299 people had received their second shots, and 5,272 people had received their third shots.

As of today, 20,163 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 1,139,571 cases with 943,784 recoveries and a total of 10,587 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
