Pro-democracy protesters, under the “Thalu Fah” movement, gathered in front of the Thai Parliament in the Dusit area of Bangkok this afternoon, August 25th, to submit a letter to the President of the National Assembly, urging all members of parliament to truly serve the people.
Demonstrators were gradually arriving at the protest site at around 4:00 PM., where it was staged in a parliament-like atmosphere, decorated with chairs attached with names of political parties and MPs. Some of them started giving speeches and criticizing the work of the government under the rule of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha.
As of 4:35 PM., Nawapol “Dino” Ton-ngam along with other representatives from the Thalu Fah group entered the parliament building to submit a letter calling for the National Assembly to listen to public demands and serve the people. The petition was handed to Somboon Uthaiwienkul and Phongsri Tarapoom, representatives of the Speaker of the National Assembly.
Speeches and mock-up censure debate by protest representatives and pro-democracy activists continued in front of the parliament for about three hours before the Thalu Fah called off the gathering at 7:00 PM.
The assembly, although technically against Covid-19 rules, was held peacefully.
