Thailand discovered a total of 19,014 daily Covid-19 infections with 233 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced today, August 22nd.
The fatalities were 140 men and 93 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 79. Of that, 226 were Thai nationals, 4 were Myanmar nationals, one of each was Cambodian, Chinese, and Singapore nationals. The age range was between 7 months old and 101 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, and obesity. Six of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 16,428 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 2,380 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 196 were from prisons, and the remaining 10 were imported cases.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 4,399, followed by Samut Sakhon with 1,499, Chonburi with 1,092, Samut Prakan with 749, Nonthaburi with 690, and Nakhon Pratom with 638.
A total number of 404,078 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 298,479 people had received their first shots, 97,206 people had received their second shots, and 8,393 people had received their third shots.
As of today, 20,672 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 1,049,295 cases with 839,636 recoveries and a total of 9,320 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
