RECAP: Thailand announces 20,571 new cases of Covid -19 and 261 additional deaths

Thailand reported 20,322 new domestic cases of Covid-19 with 235 confirmed cases at prisons as well as 14 imported cases, marking a total of 20,571 daily infections, with 261 additional deaths in the past 24 hours.

This makes a total of 1,001,418 cases of Covid-19 since the start of this recent round of infections in early April in Thailand.

Additionally, 791,538 people in total have now been released from medical care and fully recovered since this current wave began. 23,159 people were released yesterday. The chart below shows the total cases and recoveries since the original outbreak last year.

Among 20,322 local new domestic cases, excluding the cases in the prisons, the highest number of infections listed by provinces was discovered in Bangkok with 4,342, Samut Prakan with 1,584, Samut Sakorn with 1,449, Chonburi with 1,235, and Nakhon Ratchasima with 613.

The fatalities were 139 men and 122 women (250 Thais, 6 Myanmar, 2 Cambodians, 1 Laotian, 1 Chinese, and 1 Belgian) aged between 15 -109

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, high levels of fats in the blood, kidney disease, bedridden, strokes, and lung disease.

Four of them have been pronounced dead at their homes / while being transferred to hospitals.

One of them was pregnant while 30 of them did not reportedly have any health conditions.

A total of 26,408,101 doses of Covid-19 vaccines in Thailand have been given so far with 387,683 first doses given yesterday, 215,414-second doses, and 3,338 third doses.
