Woman survives fall from a third-floor balcony in Jomtien, presumed accident

Pattaya –

A Thai woman has sustained several injuries after falling down from a third-floor balcony while smoking a cigarette Sunday night (August 15th).

Emergency responders were notified of the incident at 11:00 P.M. at an apartment in Soi Jomtien 4.

They and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the injured woman, Ms. Pinkaew Butpan, 41, of  Sakhon Nakhon (Northeast of Thailand) lying on the ground.  She had sustained various injuries but was cognizant and expected to recover. She was taken to a local hospital for medical assistance.

Mr. Sonpoom Pupiluek, 27, a witness, told police, “Ms. Pinkaew and I were drinking for a birthday party in the room. Ms. Pinkaew went out to smoke a cigarette on the balcony and was leaning on the railing before falling down. We had been drinking heavily prior to the accident.”

Pattaya police believe there was no foul play and that the story was correct. It was unknown if there would be any potential charges around a gathering as currently in Chonburi parties and social gatherings are against the law due to Covid-19 related rules. These strict rules ban all gatherings around alcohol of more than one person. Events like birthday parties are also against current legal orders in place to stop the potential spread of Covid-19.
