72-year-old French man found hung in apartment in Pattaya, no foul play suspected

Pattaya –

A 72-year-old French man was found hanging at an apartment in Pattaya last night (August 13th).

The Pattaya City Police were notified of the incident at 9:00 P.M. at an apartment in Moo 9, Pattaya.

Rescue workers and The Pattaya News arrived at the room on the sixth floor of a central Pattaya apartment building. The body of a 72-year-old French man was found hanging from a wire at a balcony in the back of the room.

(The Pattaya News has withheld his name pending embassy and family notifications.)

Police believed that the man died at least three days before his body was found. No signs of struggle were found on his body and no sign of a disturbance were found in his room.

The apartment caretaker, whose name was not given to reporters, told Pattaya police the French man lived alone in the apartment since September of last year.

He was last seen on August 10th after he paid his rental fee. The caretaker stated that she had not seen him in several days, which was unusual, and went to check on him last night. This was when she discovered a foul smell coming from his room and no response to her knocks on his door, She called law enforcement who gained entry to his room and found him deceased.

An autopsy is being conducted to find the exact cause of his death, according to Pattaya law enforcement.
