RECAP: Thailand finds 23,418 daily Covid-19 infections with 184 additional deaths, breaking another new high of infection rates in the past 24 hours

Thailand discovered a total of 23,418 daily Covid-19 infections with 184 additional deaths, breaking another new high of infection rates in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration reported today, August 13th.

The fatalities were 100 men and 84 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 71. Of that, 177 were Thai nationals, five were Myanmar nationals, and one each were Lao and Indian nationals. The age range was between 12 and 105 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, and obesity. Eight of the fatalities were bedridden patients.

Of the new cases, 17,642 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 5,379 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 388 were from prisons, and the remaining 9 were imported cases.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 5,140, followed by Samut Prakan with 1,936, Samut Sakhon with 1,847, Chonburi with 1,408, Nonthaburi with 731, and Ubon Ratchathani with 537.

A total number of 219,840 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 171,488 people had received their first shots, 28,359 people had received their second shots, and 19,993 people had received their third shots.

As of today, 20,083 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 863,189 cases with 643,884 recoveries and a total of 7,126 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
