Unidentified man found hung from a tree in the Pratumnak Hill park area in Pattaya

Pattaya-

An unidentified man was found hanging from shoelaces on a tree in a remote area of the Pratumnak Hill Park area in Pattaya late this afternoon, (August 11th).

The Tourist Police was notified of the incident at 5:30 P.M. in a wooded area of Pratumnak Hill Park, located not far from the Pattaya City sign and Pattaya meteorological station.

The Pattaya City Police, rescue workers, and The Pattaya News arrived on the hill to find the body of a 40-50-year-old man whose nationality had not been identified. He was found in a deeply wooded area full of dirt trails that is rarely visited in the park. He was believed to be possibly Thai and was of Asian descent, but more investigation was needed according to Pattaya police.

He was wearing a gray shirt, black track pants, and sports shoes. He was found hanging from a tree branch by shoelaces from his sneakers, according to Pattaya Police.

Police said no identification documents and no sign of a struggle or altercation was found on his body.

A witness who discovered the body, who asked not to be named, told The Pattaya News reporters “I like to exercise up here and wander the forest trails, it is a remote area, usually peaceful, and rarely visited except for stray dogs who are non-aggressive to me. I smelled a foul odor while hiking the nature trails and went to investigate the source. That is when I found the body of the deceased man and immediately called Pattaya Police.”

Police said they are continuing their investigation to identify the body and to find the exact cause of death. At this stage, it is believed to be a suicide and the man may have possibly been in the woods for up to two days. TPN media will provide further updates to this story if they come in. TPN media also notes that the park is officially currently closed due to Covid-19 orders, regulations, and measures.
