Additional 10 million doses of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines will arrive in Thailand by the fourth quarter, Public Health Minister states

Bangkok –

An additional 10 million doses of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines will arrive in Thailand by the fourth quarter, adding to a total of 30 million doses of Pfizer scheduled to arrive later this year, Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced today, August 11th.

The Minister told reporters that the Thai government had already ordered 20 million shots of the mRNA vaccine. However, the manufacturer informed that there would be an additional allocation of 10 million doses for the nation to be arriving within the fourth quarter this year, which can be summed up to 30 million doses.

TPN media notes, however, that an exact “set in stone” or “guaranteed” delivery date has not been released or stated.

Additionally, the United States will donate another lot of 1 million doses to Thailand, expected to be the Pfizer vaccine. However, the Minister did not state when the donation period was.

The U.S. also announced a 5 million USD donation for Covid-19 assistance in Thailand in order to provide support to health care workers and strengthen Thailand’s health system’s ability to prevent, detect, and respond to Covid-19.

“These resources will help ensure Thailand, NGOs, and international organizations can both respond to the COVID crisis and meet the needs of vulnerable people, particularly in the Thai border area,” U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield stated during a visit to MedPark Hospital on Sunday, August 8th.
