Koh Larn’s local committee decides to temporarily close island to tourists due to Covid-19

Koh Larn, the popular island near Pattaya, has now decided to close the island entirely for tourism for at least fourteen days except for residents from tomorrow, August 11th.

Previously, the Koh Larn Local Committee had announced rules which had startes from August 4th for anyone who wanted to enter Koh Larn. Visitors must be fully vaccinated from Covid-19 or have recovered from COVID-19 within 90 days AND must have a negative test.

Yesterday, (August 9th), the Koh Larn Covid-19 Volunteer Committee has decided to temporary close the island to non-residents starting from tomorrow until at least August 24th.

The Koh larn Committee also added boat schedules for residents departing from Koh larn at 7:30 A.M. and back from Pattaya at 5:00 P.M. for Monday to Friday. Meanwhile, on Saturday and Sunday, boat schedules are only for some people with essential permission and needs.

The Pattaya City Mayor Sonthaya Khunpluem told The Pattaya News, “We have continued Covid -19 active case finding on Koh Larn. For now, six confirmed cases have been found on the island.”

“The Koh Larn committee has sent documents to Pattaya City asking to close Koh larn for 14 days to stop the spread of the virus.” The Mayor concluded.

The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 1,005 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today with ten new deaths, August 9th.
