Feature: Top local stories in Pattaya from last week- Fire destroys local cafe for the second time, homeless situation getting worse in Pattaya, and more…

Hello Pattaya News Readers and Supporters!

The following is our weekly feature in which we highlight the top local stories in our area, Pattaya and Chonburi, for the past week. The number of stories differs from week to week.

These are chosen and curated by our editorial team and are designed for our readers to get a quick “catch-up” of important stories they may have missed. We publish many stories daily and it is easy to lose track of important events or changes in our area. We do national recaps in a separate article, this is only the top local stories in our area and province.

They are in no particular order of importance but roughly in order of publishing. These are from Sunday, August 1st, 2021, to Saturday, August 7th, 2021.

Let’s get started and see what the top local stories were!

1. Man rescued from well in Sattahip turns out to have been missing for fifteen years after family recognizes him online

This particular story went viral. No, the man was not in the well for fifteen years but had been missing overall.

2.  Koh Larn announces everyone entering the island must be vaccinated from Covid-19

This new rule drew a lot of discussion and debate on our social media channels, especially as vaccines are still difficult for many to get here in Thailand and foreign tourism is still basically unable to visit Thailand without quarantines or time in the Phuket Sandbox. This is likely, however, a first step for the island to become a sandbox of its own in the future for the Pattaya area-allowing in vaccinated foreign tourists without quarantine but having to stay on the island for a specific period of time before going elsewhere.

3. Yes, the Sinopharm vaccines are coming to Pattaya, says Mayor

This followed after what the Pattaya Mayor says was “fake news” came out from some people posting on social media that a planned order of vaccines for Pattaya that was privately purchased by the city to accelerate the vaccination campaign was not coming. The first batch should, according to city officials, be arriving early this month.

4.  Homeless situation in Pattaya getting worse, authorities urged to take further action

As strict Covid-19 related measures, closures, and mandates continue to leave most businesses in the city shuttered, the homeless situation has been getting steadily worse. Here was our report below.

5. Fire destroys Fairy Sweet Village cafe for the second time!

This morning fire could be seen across the city…and is the second time this location has had a blaze in the past year.

That is all for this week, we hope you and yours stay safe!
