Driver blames road for being “too dark and not well lit” after smashing into a trailer truck in Pattaya

Pattaya, Banglamung, Chonburi –

A 38-year-old pickup truck driver has sustained moderate injuries after he crashed his vehicle into a trailer truck on Friday night over the past weekend.

The driver blamed the road for being too dark and not having enough lights for the accident and not his driving skills.

Emergency responders were notified of the accident on Friday (August 6th) on Number 331 Road in Huayyai.

They, Pattaya law enforcement, and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find that the pickup truck had crashed into the back of the larger vehicle. The trailer truck driver, Mr. Kittipan Paripitakchoo, 36, who was not injured, was at the scene waiting for police.

The pickup truck driver, Mr. Sampan Pannakhon, 38, had sustained moderate injuries but was cognizant and willing to answer questions. He told Pattaya News Reporters, “I was delivering parcels from Sattahip to Bangkok. I didn’t see the trailer truck in front of me because this road is not well lit and was very dark. If the road had better lighting from area officials I would not have crashed.”

Mr. Sampan was taken to a local hospital for medical assistance. Law enforcement did not state if officials would look into better lighting for the road, although noted that many others drove this road with no difficulty. It was also unclear if legal charges would be placed.
