RECAP: Thailand announces 21,838 new cases of Covid -19 and 212 additional deaths

Thailand reported 20,911 new domestic cases of Covid-19 with 923 confirmed cases at prisons as well as 4 imported cases, marking a total of 21,838 daily infections, with 212 additional deaths in the past 24 hours.

This makes a total of 707,659 cases of Covid-19 since the start of this recent round of infections in early April in Thailand.

Additionally, 489,586 people in total have now been released from medical care and fully recovered since this current wave began. 21,108 people were released yesterday. The chart below shows total cases and recoveries since the original outbreak last year, however.

Among 20,911 local new domestic cases, excluding the cases in the prisons, the highest number of infections listed by provinces was discovered in Bangkok with, 4,221 cases, Samut Prakan with 1,428, Samut Sakorn, with 1,372, Chonburi with 1,417, and Nonthaburi with 699.

The fatalities were 116 men and 96 women (207 Thais, 2 Myanmars, 2 Chineses, and one Indian) aged between 31-97.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, high levels of fats in the blood, kidney disease, bedridden, strokes, and lung disease.

Four of them died at home/self-isolation which are 3 cases in Samut Prakan and 1 case in Songkhla.

A total of 20,280,108 doses of Covid-19 vaccines in Thailand have been given so far with 507,015 first doses given yesterday, 129,652 second doses, and 10,903 third doses.
