Food delivery driver and Myanmar man injured in Pattaya motorbike crash just before mandatory curfew time

Pattaya –

A GRAB food delivery driver has been injured after his motorbike collided with a Myanmar national driving his own motorbike in Pattaya last night (August 5th) just before a mandatory Covid-19 curfew time.

Currently, in Pattaya, there is a curfew from 9:00 P.M. to 4:00 A.M. to “help control the spread of Covid-19” and discourage social gatherings at night.

The Pattaya City Police were notified of the accident at 8:30 P.M. on South Pattaya Road near the intersection of Soi Korpai and Soi Bongkot.

Emergency responders, Pattaya Police, and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find two damaged motorbikes lying on the road.

Mr. Yuttasak Sakunnum, 25, a food delivery driver for GRAB, had sustained leg injuries and was lying on the road in pain. He was taken to a local hospital for urgent medical assistance.

Mr. Min Sunyes, 38, a Myanmar national who had sustained only minor injuries was at the scene waiting for law enforcement.

Mr. Yuttasak told The Pattaya News, “I was delivering my last food order before the Covid-19 curfew time. I collided with the other motorbike who immediately came out from Soi Korpai without warning.”

Mr. Sunyes did not speak with the Pattaya News due to language barriers and was temporarily detained for further investigation by Pattaya Police, who would get the assistance of a translator. Pattaya Police stated they would continue to investigate the incident to determine the exact fault as well as review CCTV in the vicinity.
