The Pattaya City Police were notified of the fire at 10:30 A.M. at the Fairy Sweet Village restaurant and café’ near the Pattaya Provincial Court on Phra Tamnuk Road.

Firefighters with fire engines and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the fire was heavily ablaze. It took about 20 minutes to control the fire. The restaurant portion of the business, which features many foam decorations, was a near-total loss. Early estimates put the damages in the millions of baht.

Ms. Suparawee Pueaksane, 26, a staff member at the cafe, told Pattaya police, “I was about to open the restaurant as we are currently offering delivery and take-away only due to Covid-19 precautions. I turned on a switch before there was a bang and a fire broke out, spreading quickly across the roof of the building due to foam material used.”

The staff managed to escape the blaze without injuries.

At this stage, Pattaya police believe the fire was caused by an electric short circuit. However, police are continuing their investigation to find the exact cause of the fire.

The Pattaya News noted this restaurant also caught fire last September during the final phases of its construction.
