The following is our weekly feature in which we highlight the top local stories in our area, Pattaya and Chonburi, for the past week. The number of stories differs from week to week.

These are chosen and curated by our editorial team and are designed for our readers to get a quick “catch-up” of important stories they may have missed. We publish many stories daily and it is easy to lose track of important events or changes in our area. We do national recaps in a separate article, this is only the top local stories in our area and province.

They are in no particular order of importance but roughly in order of publishing. These are from Sunday, July 25th, 2021, to Saturday, July 31st, 2021.

1. Plantations International helps over 1,000 needy people in Pattaya during the Covid-19 coronavirus crisis

It’s impossible to recognize every group or individual that has been generously helping the homeless, unemployed, and needy in Pattaya during the current Covid-19 crisis. However, we try to highlight regular charity events, keeping in mind that not everyone out there helping right now wants media coverage. Plantations International helped over 1,000 needy people recently at Bali Hai pier. Indeed, this area has seen daily charity events from many organizations and kind-hearted individuals.

2.  Banglamung police raid illegal beach club in Naklua, arrest 66 people

This one doesn’t need much of a commentary, the headline and article say it all. Due to strict Covid-19 precautions in Pattaya, all entertainment venues, clubs, restaurants for dine-in, etc. are currently closed by government mandate.

3.  Pattaya continues planning for future reopening, despite current Covid-19 situation

Officials state they have no other option than to plan for the future and hope the Covid-19 situation is resolved, and soon.

4.  Police arrest seven people for allegedly breaking the mandatory curfew on Jomtien Beach

Currently, the legal curfew time is from 9:00 P.M. to 4:00 A.M. in Chonburi. Officials say it is to help prevent gatherings, private parties, and other social interactions that could spread the Covid-19 virus.

5.  Chonburi governor says no lifting of unpopular Covid-19 restrictions or measures anytime soon

The reaction to this announcement on our social media was overwhelmingly negative, especially around restrictions such as beach, golf, and pool closures.
