Photo Tour: Pattaya back under a mandatory overnight curfew-here is what it looks like

Pattaya, Thailand-

The following is a photo tour of what Pattaya looks like as it entered the first night of a MANDATORY stay-at-home “curfew” from 9:00 P.M. to 4:00 A.M. yesterday, July 20th, 2021, until further notice.

According to authorities, this is to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. Pattaya is part of Chonburi province which is part of 13 provinces/areas, including Bangkok, that is now under a mandatory stay at home order except for medical emergencies or permission from officials (such as working at a hospital or law enforcement)

Our very own Samart Thongserm (Ross), from The Pattaya News, has permission to be out as part of the media and shot these around Midnight last night, a time when Pattaya would normally be rocking as “the city that never sleeps” with its famous nightlife and entertainment.

Unfortunately, nightlife has been shuttered since April 10th, with no sign of reopening anytime soon, making Pattaya “The city that never sleeps” to “The city that can’t wake up.”
