Pattaya residents catch fish on flooded roads during recent storms

Pattaya –

Some local Pattaya residents were not dismayed or upset by recent floods throughout the area yesterday, July 14th, 2021, as they took to the streets to catch fish who were washed directly onto local roads from nearby lakes and ponds.

A video of the local residents fishing is here, we also posted this as a separate video-only article earlier today.

The following is a video, without commentary, showing the aftermath of heavy storms just before noon yesterday in Pattaya, disrupting traffic and flooding local roads.

Water on road surfaces was up to 30 centimeters deep on Soi Wat Boon Kanjanaram Soi 2 in Nongprue for about 500 meters on the road.

Strong water had washed up some fish from ponds and nearby streams onto flooded roads where locals took the best of a difficult situation and began fishing directly in the road, with several reporting having caught as many as ten fish.

Locals told The Pattaya News that every year floodwaters in their area are seen as a positive and not a negative as they bring fish directly to them.  Due to Covid-19, this helps local residents save money that they don’t have with many unemployed and out of work due to restrictions and measures in place to control the spread of the virus.
