Thailand discovered a total of 8,656 daily Covid-19 infections with 80 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, CCSA assistant spokeswoman Apisamai Srirangsan announced this morning, July 12th.
The fatalities were 39 men and 36 women from Bangkok (44), Samut Prakan (6), Pattani (5), Pathum Thani (3), Samut Sakhon (3), Yala (2), Kampangpetch (2), Chiang Rai (1), Phetchaburi (1), Kanchanaburi (1), Phuket (1), Nakhon Nayok (1), Chonburi (1), Phichit (1), Suphanburi (1), Prachuap Khiri Khan (1), Ayutthaya (1), Ang Thong (1), Uttaradit (1), Samut Songkram (1), and Udon Thani (1). The age range was between 30 and 94 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, kidney disease, hyperlipidemia, stroke, heart disease, obesity, lung disease, and cancer. One of the fatalities was during her 28-week pregnancy. Three of them were bedridden patients and the six others did not reportedly have any health conditions.
Of the new cases, 6,044 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 2,515 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 73 were from prisons, and the remaining 24 were imported cases.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,399, followed by Samut Sakhon with 591, Samut Prakan with 405, Chonburi with 399, Pathum Thani with 397, and Nakhon Pathom with 315.
A total number of 100,025 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 87,809 people had received their first shot and 12,216 people had received their second shots.
As of today, 3,687 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 345,027 cases with 251,658 recoveries and a total of 2,791 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
The Thai government has also opened three Covid-testing centers for the public to assist with testing using Rapid Antigen Tests, starting today. The goal is to facilitate around 10,000-12,000 people per day within 1-2 weeks, primarily in the Bangkok area.
The centers are located at the Thupatemi Stadium, Rajamangala National Stadium, and the Government Complex. An additional center at the Air Defense Artillery Division in the Kiak Kai area will be operating by this Wednesday, July 14th.
