Chonburi woman passes away after being run over by trailer truck in the Ko Chan district

Chonburi –

A 48-year-old Thai woman has been pronounced dead at the scene after tragically being run over by a trailer truck in Ko Chan on Saturday, July 10th, 2021.

Emergency responders were notified of the accident at 9:30 A.M. on the Number 331 Road (Ko Poe to Sattahip) in Tha Bonnmee, Ko Chan district.

Emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the body of Mrs. Malai Jajaroen, 48, from Panat Nikhom. She was believed to have been killed instantly, having been run over by the trailer truck. Nearby, first responders found her damaged motorbike and the trailer truck on the road, with the driver of the latter waiting for police and first responders in a shaken state.

The trailer truck driver, Mr. Chatchai Changsomboon, 33, told Pattaya News reporters “I was driving in the left lane when Mrs. Jajaroen immediately cut in front of me. I was unable to avoid the collision and both her and the motorbike went under the truck.”

Chatchai was uninjured in the accident and was described as cooperative by Ko Chan police.

Mr. Suchart Jajaroen, 54, who is Mrs. Malai’s husband and was called by police to the scene told emergency responders that his wife had been dizzy over the past few days and health-related issues may have been a cause of the accident.

Ko Chan police are still investigating the incident and have not decided as of press time if Chatchai will face any charges in relation to the fatal accident.
