Pattaya –

The Pattaya School for the Blind, struggling due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lack of tourists and visitors that traditionally have helped with their charity and efforts, needs used mobile phones and computers for students to learn online, as schools are closed currently in Chonburi for in person learning.

Mr. Chit Suknoo, the director of the Pattaya School for the Blind, told local reporters this week, “We are suffering during the Covid-19 situation, like many charity foundations. We have significantly less donated food and necessary items since the beginning of last year due to lack of support, visitors, and people who previously helped donate struggling themselves.”

“We have tried to help ourselves by doing some live streaming every Sunday with entertaining shows involving our students and selling handmade products made by the children.” Chit added.

“We have also regretfully had to lay off some staffers to decrease our expenses.” Chit noted.

“Even though schools are temporarily closed for on site learning, we still have to teach online. Some of our students still stay here.” Chit said, noting that there is no timeframe as to when schools can reopen for in person learning as the Covid-19 situation continues to be an issue in Chonburi and Thailand.

“We need some cash, food and used mobile phones or computers. Some students are learning online at their homes but they don’t have the basic tools they need to learn.” Chit explained.

“Now we have 103 students, 12 of them stay at the school full time with others wanting to learn online. If you are able to help our students, please contact us.” Chit concluded.
