Thai Prime Minister enters self-isolation quarantine after contacting Covid-19 infected businessman while visiting “Phuket Sandbox” ceremony last week

Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha today, July 5th, was sent to self-isolation quarantine after contacting the chairman of the Surin Chamber of Commerce who recently tested positive for Covid-19 while attending the “Phuket Sandbox” opening ceremony last Thursday, July 1st.

The Prime Minister was found in a selfie photo standing close to Chairman Veerasak Pisanuwong during his visit to the Phuket Sandbox reopening campaign in the southern island province.

Government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri revealed that the Prime Minister, who has already been fully vaccinated, has now entered a quarantine, which will reportedly be in self-isolation at his home while monitored by health officials. He would continue to perform his duty and monitor the overall situation from his private quarantine areas.

Additionally, his Covid-19 SWAB test was conducted this morning and proved negative of the virus. He continued to perform duties as usual before leaving the Government House at 12:10 PM and starting his work from home.
