Bangkok Police to file bail revocation against five released pro-democracy protest leaders after reportedly violating Criminal Court’s bail conditions

The Thai Metropolitan Police Bureau is filing applications for revocation of bail against five recently-released pro-democracy protest leaders after allegedly violating the Criminal Court’s bail conditions.

Police Major-General Sukhun Prommayon, Metropolitan Police Bureau’s deputy commissioner, revealed yesterday, July 4th, that investigators had closely observed the behaviors of all bailed protest leaders and found that there were five protest leaders who violated the bail conditions. According to the police, they behaved in a rallying manner and also gave speeches at recent gatherings at several pro-democracy protests. This was, according to the Royal Thai Police, a violation of their terms of bail.

The deputy commissioner stated: “Police have warned the leaders but there are still violations, so the investigating officers decided to file an application to revoke the bail. It has already been sent to the public prosecutor and is in the process of the prosecutor’s consideration.”

The names of protest leaders who are being filed are not still disclosed to the public, according to the Metropolitan Police Bureau.

All of the bailed protesters who were prosecuted under Sections 112 and 116 are Jatupat “Pai Dao Din” Boonpattararaksa; Panusaya “Rung” Sithijirawattanakul; Panupong “Mike” Jadnok; Chaiyamorn Kaewwiboonphan or Ammy the Bottom Blues; Parit “Penguin” Chiwarak; Anon Nampa; Patiwat “Mor Lam Bank” Saraiyaem; Somyot Pruksakasemsuk; and Pasarawalee “Mild” Thanakitwibulpol.
