Unidentified man reportedly fires several gunshots in public on Jomtien Beach, no injuries

Pattaya –

An unidentified man reportedly opened fire from his vehicle in public next to Jomtien beach early yesterday morning (June 26th).

First, a video version of this news is below:

The Pattaya City Police were notified of the incident at 2:30 A.M. at the entrance of Soi 3 Jomtien Beach in Pattaya only a few hundred meters from the Pattaya City Police box on Dongtan branch. This police box had just recently become a 24-hour a day sub-station for the police as you can read about here.

Police officers and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find Mr. Prapan Pimpa, 32, and his girlfriend who were frightened as a result of the incident.

Prapan told Pattaya Police, “We were driving along the beach to find something to eat, as food cart vendors are known to set up shop overnight in this area with the closure of regular restaurants due to Covid-19 restrictions. We were 200 meters from the Dongtan Police sub-station when someone in another vehicle opened fire out of their window, shocking us. We don’t have any problems with anyone and have no idea why this happened. We did not get a clear look at the vehicle or driver, however.”

Meanwhile, a motorbike taxi driver nearby, who did not offer his name, said he heard many gunshots but he did not see who opened fire. However, he was sure that it was gunshots and not from an exhaust pipe, claiming he could easily identify the difference between the two sounds.

Pattaya police are checking CCTV footage nearby to find the suspect to face legal action as soon as possible, citing the incident was one that could harm the positive image of Pattaya and Jomtien to the public, especially with the newly opened police sub-station nearby. There were no injuries as a result of the incident and police did not immediately state if they found any bullet cartridges nearby.
