Phuket relaxes Covid-19 health measures prior to “Phuket Sandbox” island reopening project

Phuket provincial authorities have announced the relaxation of Covid-19 health measures, effective Monday, June 21st, prior to the island reopening under the “Phuket Sandbox” project.

Schools, department stores, convenience stores, cinemas, theaters, sports stadiums, gyms, beauty institutions, internet cafes, and public areas are allowed to be operated normally during business hours under strict health control measures, including wearing face masks and socially distancing.

Restaurants can also be opened normally. Selling alcoholic beverages at the places is also allowed but no later than 11:00 PM. Places with snooker tables, billiards, pool tables, or similar games can be operated between 3:00 PM. and 11:00 PM.

Large gatherings of more than two hundred people shall not be organized unless conducted by competent officials or is an activity that is designated as a quarantine facility. Other types of gathering for family reunions, religious purposes, celebrations, etc. shall proceed with health cautions under the public health ministry measures.

Entertainment venues, pubs, nightclubs, bars, karaokes, and other related service establishments remain closed, as well as places and fields for cockfighting, fish fighting, bird racing, chicken racing, boxing stadiums, and any activities that are related to gambling establishments.

The announcement takes effect from June 21, 2021, onwards until further notice.
