Thailand’s Wildlife Department provides assistance to residents in Hua Hin following viral photo of elephant breaking into local home

Hua Hin –

Thailand’s Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, along with local authorities, is currently examining a case involving wild elephants intruding upon a local residence in Hua Hin, located in the Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

The officers arrived at the house for inspection after pictures of a wild elephant breaking a kitchen wall looking for food went viral yesterday, June 20th.

According to the Facebook account owner who posted the viral pictures, Ratchadawan Phungprasopphon, the elephant came to her kitchen every day for food but never did any harm to any of her family members.

“It often came in the middle of the night every day. Only the wall and some property were damaged, but it didn’t hurt anyone,” she commented.

The officials then cooperated with local agencies to provide assistance and repair the damage to the house as soon as possible before consulting with the Huai Sat Yai Subdistrict Administrative Organization from the Kaeng Krachan National Park and related agencies to prevent the reoccurrence of the incident.

“We initially had to provide knowledge and create understanding with the villagers in the area in order to handle the situation if they encountered any wild animals, including preventive guidelines to prevent possible harm to villagers and elephants,” the official stated.
