Of the new cases, 1,334 were found in hospitals and medical services, 632 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 294 were from prisons, and the remaining 30 were imported cases.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 942, followed by Samut Prakan with 173, Nonthaburi with 102, Samut Sakhon with 98, Nakhon Pathom with 83, and Songkhla with 70. Chonburi reported 47 new and confirmed domestic infections this morning.

A total number of 223,315 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 23,879 people had received their first shot with a Sinovac vaccine and 153,474 people had their first shot with AstraZeneca, marking a total of 223,315 people who received the first doses.

41,932 people had their second shots with a Sinovac vaccine and the second dose was given to 4,030 people with AstraZeneca, marking a total of 45,962 people.

As of today, 5,711 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 189,828 cases with 144,998 recoveries and a total of 1,402 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Additionally, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) is considering to revoke mandatory state quarantine for arrivals, reasoning that fewer people are traveling in and out of Thailand, General Natthapon Nakpanich of the National Security Council (NSC) stated.

Many of them were also reportedly entering and leaving the country multiple times, resulting in a financial burden on the Thai government. The CCSA, therefore, may seek a suitable procedure for arrivals to be responsible for their own expenses in the near future.

This primarily affects Thais who would get state quarantine services for free. Anyone entering the country would still need to perform fourteen-day quarantine, however, it would be at their own expense under the proposal/consideration, although occasional hardship exceptions may take place under the idea according to General Natthapon.
