RECAP: Thailand reports 2,680 daily Covid-19 infections with 35 additional deaths and 472,128 new vaccinated people nationwide

Thailand discovered a total of 2,680 daily Covid-19 infections with 35 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, CCSA assistant spokesperson Apisamai Srirangsan announced this morning, June 9th.

The fatalities were 24 men and 11 women from Bangkok (26), Nonthaburi (2), Phetchaburi (2), Samut Prakan (2), Chachoengsao (1), Pathum Thani (1), and Amnat Charoen (1). The age range was between 42 and 89 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, strokes, heart disease, cancer, and lung disease. Two of the fatalities did not reportedly have any health conditions.

Of the new cases, 1,457 were found in hospitals and medical services, 932 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 280 were from prisons, and the remaining 11 were imported cases.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 1,096, followed by Samut Prakan with 491, Nonthaburi with 132, Prachuap Khiri Khan with 91, Pathum Thani with 61, and Samut Sakhon with 42. Chonburi reported 40 new and confirmed domestic infections this morning.

A total number of 472,128 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 134,926 people had received their first shot with a Sinovac vaccine and 293,533 people had their first shot with AstraZeneca, marking a total of 428,459 people who received the first doses.

38,665 people had their second shots with a Sinovac vaccine and the second dose was given to 5,004 people with AstraZeneca, marking a total of 43,669 people.

As of today, 4,253 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 185,228 cases with 136,252 recoveries and a total of 1,332 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
