RECAP: Thailand reports 2,631 daily Covid-19 infections with 31 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, with new clusters found in Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Chonburi, Songkhla, and Nakhon Pathom

Thailand discovered a total of 2,631 daily Covid-19 infections with 31 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, CCSA assistant spokesperson Apisamai Srirangsan announced this morning, June 4th.

The fatalities were 16 men and 15 women from Bangkok (24), Samut Prakan (4), Chiang Mai (2), Kampangpetch (1), Chanthaburi (1), Nakhon Pathom (1), Roi Et (1), and Uthai Thani (1). The age range was between 17 and 97 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, heart disease, chronic kidney disease, lung disease, obesity, past strokes, and Down Syndrome. Three of them were bedridden patients and another five fatalities did not reportedly have any health conditions.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 824, followed by Pathum Thani with 460 (driven by a large market), Samut Prakan with 202, Phetchaburi with 198, Nonthaburi 153 (at a new construction worker camp), Chonburi with 101 (driven by two new clusters which were a Chinese party and ice factory.), and Samut Sakhon with 76.

Two new clusters among a total of 52 active clusters in Bangkok were reported at a construction worker camp in the Chatuchak district and the Hua-Pa community in Suan Luang district.

As of today, 2,493 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 171,979 cases with 120,697 recoveries and a total of 1,177 deaths since the start of the pandemic. About 24,786 people received their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccination and another 31,233 people received their second shot yesterday, marking a total number of 3,961,589 vaccinated people in Thailand who have received at least one dose of a vaccine.
