Chonburi orders a temporary lockdown of a village in Mueang Chonburi and requires migrant workers entering the province to quarantine

Chonburi –

The Chonburi governor has ordered a village in Mueang Chonburi to “lockdown” and migrant workers who enter Chonburi will have to quarantine for 14 days.

Two orders from the Chonburi Governor Phakarathorn Tienchai have been released today (June 2nd) by the Chonburi Public Relations Office.

The first order concludes that more confirmed cases and close contacts of Covid -19 were found in a village in Soi 57, Moo 5, in the Bang Sai sub-district of Mueang Chonburi.

In order to control the spread of the virus, the Chonburi Disease Control Committee has order to temporarily lockdown the area in Soi 57.

No one is allowed to enter and exit the area except necessary with permission from relevant Chonburi officers. Food, water, and supplies will be provided to those in need in this village by health department officials.

The order runs from May 30th to at least June 12th.

The second order states that migrant workers who are Cambodian, Burmese, and Laotian who came from other provinces are being found as confirmed cases of Covid -19 in Chonburi.

Most of these migrants go to work at densely packed factories and live in close quarters at migrant worker dormitories, potentially spreading Covid19 further.

In order to control the spread of the Covid-19 virus, employers must report and register their migrant employees to relevant officers immediately when entering Chonburi.

Employers must provide places for employees to be quarantined for 14 days with no one able to enter or exit the place of quarantine. Social distancing rules must take place including no group meals, drinking, socializing, etc.

Employers should provide food and necessary items for their employees during their quarantine.

District chiefs and employment officers must make sure that employers strictly follow the order. The Chonburi Public Health Department will be inspecting industrial estates across the province to ensure employers are complying with the order.

The order is takes effect from today until any further notice.
