Si Racha –
A local resident found a corpse of a newborn baby on the side of a road in Si Racha over the weekend. Si Racha Police have launched a search for the individual responsible.
The Si Racha Police was notified of the discovery of a dead newborn baby on Saturday evening around sunset (May 29th) on the side of a road near the Khao Namsap Temple in Thung Sukhala.
Police, emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the body of a newborn male baby near a half-dug hole. It is believed that the baby died at least five hours before his body was discovered.
Mrs. Sangwien Duangyai, 59, who first discovered the body, told Si Racha police, “I feed street dogs every day near the Khao Namsap temple. I smelled something rotten while walking to the temple area before I saw something which I thought was a baby dog at first. There were some small blood stains on the road.”
“I went closer before I discovered to my horror that the deceased was a dead new born baby.” Sangwien concluded.
Si Racha Police have launched an investigation to find the baby’s mother and/or the person who dumped the child. A police spokesman stated they believe the people responsible had partially dug a hole when they were interrupted by passing traffic or a pedestrian and fled, leaving the deceased child in a half finished pit.
