RECAP: Thailand discovers 2,455 daily Covid-19 infections with 41 additional deaths with underlying conditions in past 24 hours

Thailand reported a total of 2,455 daily Covid-19 infections with 41 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, CCSA spokesperson Taweesilp Visanuyothin announced this morning, May 26th.

The fatalities were 25 men and 16 women from Bangkok (16), Samut Prakan (7), Nonthaburi (3), Chonburi (2), Pathum Thani (2), Singburi (1), Sukothai (1), Udon Thani (1), Narathiwas (1), Loei (1), Sakon Nakhon (1), Nakhon Sawan (1), Prachinburi (1), Trang (1), Nakhon Sri Thammarat (1), and Samut Sakhon (1). The age range was between 29 and 86 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, chronic kidney disease, heart disease, chronic lung disease, liver disease, past strokes, obesity, and alcohol use disorder (AUD). One of them did not reportedly have any health conditions.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 975, followed by Phetchaburi with 259 (at an electronics industrial estate), Nonthaburi with 122 (driven by a recently-found cluster at a new construction worker camp), Samut Prakan with 100, Pathum Thani with 61, and Song Khla with 42. Chonburi reported 40 new cases today as the factory cluster became under control.

As of today, 2,571 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 137,894 cases with 91,765 recoveries and a total of 873 deaths since the start of the pandemic. About 113,486 people received their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccination and another 9,428 people received their second shot yesterday, marking a total number of 3,147,227 vaccinated people in Thailand who have received at least one dose of a vaccine.
