Chonburi, Thailand-
The Chonburi Public Relations department issued an order tonight, May 21st, 2021, to close the Okamura Metal factory, located in the Don Hualor sub-district in Mueang Chonburi temporarily following 98 confirmed Covid-19 cases found at the factory.
The order to close the factory, which is order number 26/2564, dated today, May 21st, 2021, closes Okamura Metals Company Limited (except for parts of the administrative office) until at least June 4th, 2021.
All employees of the factory have been told to strictly follow communicable disease officer orders and are being quarantined and restricted from interacting with the general public.
Testing took place at the factory from May 17th-19th as part of a plan for Chonburi to test industrial estates across the province that are considered high-risk due to the number of employees present. A total of 593 people were tested with a total of 98 testing positive for Covid-19, according to Chonburi officials. This was the vast majority of the 127 new cases discovered in Chonburi today.
Many of the employees of the factory live in the Phan Thong district at migrant worker dormitories, which is also a significant reason that district had so many new cases today. These dormitories are also under quarantine and strict measures prohibiting residents from interacting with the general public at this time.
