Pattaya, Chonburi –
The Pattaya Remand Prison reported zero Covid -19 cases after testing inmates following outbreaks at other prisons across Thailand earlier this month.
The Pattaya Remand Prison yesterday (May 18th) has released an announcement stating, “Due to the Covid -19 situation, there are still no confirmed Covid -19 cases found in the Pattaya Remand Prison.”
“We have followed the hygienic measurements from the Chonburi Provincial Public Health Office to prevent the spread of the virus.”
“All prisoners have been tested and separated from new prisoners while they are waiting for the test results. When new prisoners arrive they are quarantined until their test results come back and are proven not to be infected with Covid-19.”
The statement noted that the prison is, as a precautionary measure, preparing a separate field hospital with up to 300 beds in case there is a breakout in the prison, despite the health measures. It was also noted that currently no visitors are allowed in person and can only visit prisoners online as an additional Covid-19 precaution.
