IMPACT’s large field hospital, Bussarakham Hospital, officially opened yesterday with Thai Prime Minister

Nonthaburi –

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha, along with Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Interior Minister Anupong Paochinda, hosted an opening ceremony of the Bussarakham Hospital, a large field hospital in Nonthaburi’s IMPACT Muang Thong Thani exhibition center yesterday, May 14th.

“The establishment of Bussarakham Hospital was a success under the cooperation with many parties, both private and public health sectors. The hospital will be supervised by the Public Health Ministry,” the Prime Minister stated in his opening speech.

The large field hospital, set up in IMPACT’s Challenger Hall, accommodates 1,092 patients in its first phase and has sufficient space for another 3,000 to 5,000 additional beds. The hospital will be supervised by 780 medical professionals, dividing into three shifts at 260 staff per shift.

The hospital is planned to accommodate ‘yellow coded’ Covid-19 infections who are suffering from slight to severe Covid-19 symptoms. It is also equipped with respirators for patients who develop severe symptoms.

The Public Health Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, further stated: “It took us only 7 days to set up Bussarakam Hospital, starting on May 7th. Thank you for the cooperation of all sectors. Apart from the treatment zone, the hospital also provides a relaxing zone where patients can stay watching movies and exercise under good ventilation all around the area while staying socially distanced.”

“Patients will have better physical and mental health under the good management system to prevent the spread of infection to the outside. We are confident that the hospital will not cause troubles to the surrounding communities.”
