Si Racha –

A sleepy pickup truck driver who fell asleep at the wheel managed to escape the accident with no injures in the Si Racha area yesterday, but will likely have a big bill coming his way due to property damages.

Rescue workers were notified of the accident on Sukhpiban Road in the Bueng sub-district yesterday afternoon (May 13th).

Police and rescue workers arrived at the scene to find the pickup truck slammed into the power pole, which had also been heavily damaged and partially fell across Sukhpiban Road.

The driver, Mr. Tanakorn Morpoe, 31, who is a staffer at a tire company, had not sustained any injuries.

He told Si Racha police, “I was heading home after finishing my work in the morning after a long shift on lack of proper sleep. I fell asleep before I lost control of my vehicle and ran into the power pole.”

Tanakorn reportedly took self-responsibility for the accident and falling asleep.

Tanakorn was taken to a nearby police station to face legal action around property damage charges while the electricity authority has repaired the power pole.
