The driver, Mr. Kitti, 28, and his wife, the passenger, whose name was not given to the press by law enforcement, had sustained serious injuries inside the SUV. They were rushed to a local hospital for urgent medical assistance in a serious condition.

A witness, Mr. Thongchai Nillapan, 36, a nearby truck driver told the associated Thai press, “The SUV had lost control at high-speed on the road before crashing into a tree. The SUV’s front wheel appeared to come off before the collision, likely leading to the accident.”

Police are continuing their investigation to find the exact cause of the accident, noting to the associated Thai press that speed appeared to be a factor in the accident as well.
