Thailand reported 1,750 domestic infections among a total of 1,763 new, confirmed Covid-19 cases with 27 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, CCSA spokesperson Taweesilp Visanuyothin announced this morning, May 4th.
The fatalities were 21 men and 6 women from Bangkok (8), Nonthaburi (5), Lamphun (2), Samut Prakan (2), Chonburi (1), Ubon Ratchathani (1), Nakhon Pathom (1), Buriram (1), Sarat Thani (1), Nakhon Sri Thammarat (1), Kamphaeng Phet (1), Chainat (1), and Nan (1). Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, hyperlipidemia, thyroid disease, obesity, cancer, chronic lung disease, and chronic liver disease.
One of them was a bedridden patient and the other five people refused to expose their health conditions.
Regarding domestic infections, the first group of 562 local infections was discovered in Bangkok. Seven of them were reportedly connected to entertainment venues, 52 were from community markets and villages, 315 were from being in close contact with confirmed infected patients, and the other 188 infections were connected to other risky places.
The second group includes 499 cases that were reported in Bangkok’s vicinity. Three of them were reportedly connected to entertainment venues, 17 were from community markets and villages, 295 were from being close contact with confirmed infected patients, and the other 184 cases were connected to other risky places.
The last group includes 689 domestic infections that were found in other provinces. One of them was connected to entertainment venues, 23 were from community markets and villages, 411 were from being in close contact with confirmed infected patients, and 254 of them were connected to other risky places. The majority of the group was discovered in Samut Prakan with 201, followed by Nonthaburi with 168, Chonburi with 91, and Samut Sakhon with 55.
The infections in Bangkok were reportedly discovered in crowded communities. Apart from Klong Toei, the CCSA is also closely monitoring another six crowded communities, including Pattana Bonkai, Keha Bonkai, Polo, Phra Chen, Ruamrudee, and Kularb Daeng, where there have been a number of 162 infections found since April.
As of today, 1,490 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 72,788 cases with 42,474 recoveries and a total of 303 deaths since the start of the pandemic. About 6,611 people received their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccination and another 5,099 people received their second shot yesterday, marking a total number of 1,498,617 vaccinated people in Thailand who have received at least one dose of a vaccine.
