Building in Chonburi collapses, tenants escape

Chonburi –

A building in Mueang Chonburi has collapsed just after eights tenants were moved. No injuries or deaths were reported.

Police was notified of the incident at 8:00 P.M. last night (May 2nd) in the Bang Sai sub-district.

Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the two storey building with eight rooms which had broken down and collapsed.

Local residents nearby said the building is about 20 years old. Eight tenants had been moved just before the building collapsed. The residents heard loud noises and cracking prior to the collapse.

The Bangsai Mayor Mr. Rungruengsin Wongsaithong told local news media, “We were informed that the building had started to collapse by area residents. We ordered all the tenants to move out and a demolition was being ordered before the building collapsed.”

The mayor added that an investigation around the buildings cause of collapse will take place.
