Pickup truck plunges into sea in Jomtien, driver claims he was avoiding colliding with motorbike

Jomtien-

A pickup truck driver has escaped injury after, according to the driver, avoiding a collision with a motorbike driver before plunging into the sea in Jomtien last night (April 29th).

The Na Jomtien Police was notified of the accident at 8:00 P.M. on Jomtien Beach road near an area of the beach which is sectioned off for future expansion of sand.

They and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the blue pickup truck partially submerged in the water after having taken out several of the beach renovation barriers. The driver, Mr. Mongkon Paterat, 38, was not injured.

He told The Pattaya News, “It was very dark on the road with not enough lights. The motorbike driver immediately appeared in front of the pickup truck. I tried to avoid the collision before plunging into the sea.”

The Pattaya News notes that the supposed motorbike driver was nowhere to be found after the accident and there were no immediate witnesses. Police did not immediately state if Mongkon would need to pay for the damages done to the remodel barriers. It took several hours to remove the damaged vehicle from the ocean and bring it to a local repair garage.
