Driver blames wet road after one person dies and three people are injured after his trailer truck collides with pickup truck in Pattaya area

A local trailer truck driver blamed a wet road after one person has died while three people have sustained injuries after a trailer truck collided with a pickup truck in Banglamung yesterday afternoon (April 27th).

The Huayyai Police was notified of the accident at 2:00 P.M. on Pong – Maikaew Road in Khao Maikaew.

Emergency responders and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the trailer truck and the damaged pickup truck on the side of the road.

The pickup truck driver, whose name was not given to the press, was found dead inside the cab of the truck.

Two people inside the pickup truck, a seven-year-old boy, and Ms. Yurapa Weeraharn, 30, both sustained serious injuries.

The trailer truck driver, Mr. Thongjan Sookdee, 45, had sustained various injuries, but none serious. All three injured people were taken to a local hospital for medical assistance.

Thongjan told The Pattaya News “It was raining while I was descending from a nearby hill. The road was slippery before my trailer truck lost control and collided with the pickup truck. It wasn’t my fault it was the condition of the road.”

Police have yet to identify if any charged will be pressed against the trailer truck driver.
