Si Racha officers raid Japanese restaurant for allegedly being open past the legal time and allowing alcohol consumption

Officers in Si Racha raided a Japanese restaurant over the past weekend for allegedly being open for in-store dining past the legal time of 9:00 P.M. and allowing consumption of alcohol inside, which is currently against Chonburi and Thai Government orders to prevent the potential spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus.

The Si Racha District Office reported on Saturday night (April 24th) officers from the Si Racha District Office raided the Japanese restaurant ‘Shiori Fusion & Izakaya’on Si Racha 1 Road past 9:00 P.M.

The restaurant owner and customers whose names were not provided are being accused of:

  1. Offending the Chonburi Disease Control Order which states that restaurants are allowed for dining in until 9:00 P.M. and alcohol is not allowed to be drunk inside.
  2. Gathering together with many people without social distancing, mask-wearing, and other Covid-19 precautions, especially while consuming alcohol.

The restaurant owner and customers were taken to the Si Racha Police Station to face legal action. They could face strict charges under the Emergency Decree to control the Covid-19 coronavirus, which could see people face up to several years in jail and fines of up to 100,000 baht. Si Racha police also stated that they are being very clear: These rules apply to everyone and they are not just arresting owners but customers violating the rules will also be arrested.

The Chonburi province released their provincial Covid-19 related orders which took effect on April 18th, 2021.
