Royal Thai Air Force to collect Thai Air Force attache and his five family members from India for treatment after suffering from Covid-19 severe symptoms

Bangkok –

The Royal Thai Air Force reported today, April 25th, that they have sent an Airbus A350 airplane to collect a Thai Air Force attache and his five family members in India for urgent treatment in Thailand after reportedly being found infected with Covid-19 and had not been receiving any treatment due to lack of occupancy in local hospitals.

Lt. Gen. Thanut Chanampai, Chief of Civil Affairs and spokesman of the Royal Thai Air Force, said that the Air Force attache was suffering from severe health conditions, including a lung infection, and must return to Thailand as soon as possible for treatment after testing positive for the Covid-19 Coronavirus.

According to his statement, the patient and his family must return to Thailand as there were no available hospitals, inadequate hospital equipment, and a lack of medical personnel due to the rapid infections in the country itself.

The Air Force, under cooperation with the Thai embassy in India and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then planned to send an airplane to pick up the family for their own safety. Thanut also reassured that all procedures were acted accordingly with the procedures of the related Foreign Affairs department.

The flight also carried a group of staff from the Department of Communicable Disease Control who would monitor the situation closely throughout the flight from New Deli to Bangkok, the spokesman stated.

He said: “They are expected to arrive at Don Mueang Military Airport tonight. Upon arrival, they will immediately enter the patient transfer process to local hospitals, according to the health measures of the Department of Public Health.”

The Royal Thai Air Force reassured nervous citizens that there would be no general exposure of those being brought from India for medical treatment but social media still saw many comments that expressed concern.
