Pattaya police break up groups of people on local beaches allegedly violating Covid-19 rules – VIDEO

Pattaya –

Pattaya City and Chonburi Police last night (April 23rd) inspected Pattaya and Jomtien Beach where they broke up groups of people who were allegedly drinking alcohol, gathered in groups, and eating food together which is currently against the government orders to control the Covid-19 coronavirus.

Beaches, parks, reservoirs, public spaces, and similar places are only for exercising according to the Chonburi Governor and recent Covid-19 orders. Gathering, eating, drinking (especially alcohol), and hanging out in large groups in these areas are “requested” not to happen by the Chonburi government.  Technically, alcohol has been banned on beaches for many years, as is cooking BBQ food, but both are generally tolerated and allowed. However, due to Covid-19, these rules are being enforced by local police. Umbrella and beach chair vendors are open during the daytime but must follow social distancing rules and cannot sell alcohol.

Last night, April 23rd, 2021, a team of police led by Chonburi Provincial Police Deputy Commander Colonel Maykawit Praditphon started by inspecting entertainment venues in Pattaya to prevent any offending a Chonburi closure order. No entertainment venues were found open. All entertainment venues are currently ordered closed by the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration country-wide to stop the potential spread of the Covid-19 virus.

Having successfully checked local bars and nightclubs to ensure they were closed Colonel Maykawit led his team to inpect beaches in the Pattaya and Jomtien areas where they broke up many groups of people who appeared to be drinking alcohol and eating food on local beaches around midnight. Police relied on “soft warnings” and did not give any fines, however warned that if people did not cooperate they could be given penalties under the current emergency decree laws to control the Covid-19 coronavirus. People left without an issue, according to Colonel Maykawit. A video of the dispersal is below.
