Thailand’s Department of National Parks announces closure of 61 national parks nationwide to prevent potential spread of Covid-19

Thailand’s Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation today, April 21st, announced the closure of 61 out of 155 national parks nationwide to prevent the domestic spread of Covid-19 Coronavirus.

The other 91 national parks will remain open as usual but will close some tourist attractions and refrain from certain types of activities at the parks, such as swimming at waterfalls and walking trails, according to their statement.

The closed national parks are Thap Lan National Park, Pang Sida National Park, Sam Lan Waterfall National Park, Chet Sao Noi Waterfall National Park, Tai Rom Yen National Park, Than Sadet National Park – Koh Phangan, National Park Sri Phang Nga, Khanom Beach National Park – Southern Sea Islands, Sankala Khiri National Park, Tat Ton National Park, Phu Wiang National Park, Phu Soi Dao National Park, Mae Wong National Park, Tham Luang National Park – Khun Nam Nang Non, Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park, Huai Nam Dang National Park, etc.

Some national parks that remain open but only close some tourist attraction areas such as some waterfalls, trekking and nature trails, camping sites, lodging, and similar attractions are Khao Yai National Park, Khao Laemya National Park, Thong Pha Phum National Park, Mu Koh Angthong National Marine Park, Mu Ko Chumphon National Park, Ao Phang Nga National Park, Doi Inthanon National Park, and a few others that were not stated.
